MISSION
STATEMENT
It
is the mission of Cartway United Reformed & Methodist Church to meet the
spiritual and pastoral needs of all who attend, regardless of age or disability,
and to reach out to those outside the church, always seeking to bring them to
God.
We have concern for the world and it's
inhabitants regardless of their colour, race or creed, and support them through
prayer and material giving.
Meeting socially as a church helps enrich our
fellowship with one another.
We try to fulfil our spiritual, pastoral and
outreach mission through:
-
Our Sunday worship in both traditional services
and in the monthly all-age worship.
-
Being open to new approaches to worship; groups
attending Easter People and Spring Harvest have brought inspiration to the
church.
-
Our Junior Church, which meets on Sunday
mornings, and comes together with the congregation to conclude worship together.
-
Our provision of an audio loop system for the
hard of hearing, and large print hymn books for the visually impaired; disabled
access both to the church and the downstairs meeting rooms is possible, and a
disabled toilet is available. A warm welcome is extended to those with special
educational needs, who are encouraged to take part in the church's activities.
-
The involvement of congregation in services of
baptism.
-
Regular Bible studies and prayer meetings.
-
A pastoral system which appoints a visitor for
everyone in the church family.
-
A safeguarding policy, administered by a
safeguarding officer, designed to protect everyone who attends any church
function or activity.
-
A provision of 'Cartwheels', a group for
parents/carers and children which meets on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
mornings in the downstairs meeting rooms, and is staffed and supported mainly by
church members.
-
A regular devotional midweek meeting for
ladies.
-
A monthly evening church fellowship which takes
various forms.
-
A quarterly early morning communion service
followed by a fellowship breakfast.
We express our concern and support for the
wider world through:
-
Listening to speakers who have first hand
experience of mission work in the outside world and at home.
-
Involvement in Fair Trade issues and the use of
fairly traded goods; a Fair Trade stall is held regularly.
-
Much giving to, and working for, a wide range
of charities, partly through coffee mornings and additional offerings at Holy
Communion and through involvement with charities such as Christian Aid,
Samaritan's Purse, (Operation Christmas Child), Harvest Help (work in Malawi,
Zambia, Ghana and Togo), Methodist Church projects (Home missions, World Church,
Home for the Aged), NCH, Birmingham City Mission.
-
Individual membership of various charities
including:

Society; Bridgnorth Fair Trade Group; Helping Hand; Hope House Children's
Hospice; League of Friend's of Bridgnorth Hospital; Leprosy Mission; Old
