Cartway Church Jesus Lives!

WELCOME! to the home of the Cartway Church...the place where ecumenical dreams and visions are made and realised. The Cartway Church is a combined United Reformed and Methodist church and holds pride of place as the first ecumenical experiment in the United Kingdom, uniting in the year 1962. It is a church that is ahead of its time, and for the past 47 years it has sought to catch a vision of where God is working in the community and to build God's kingdom so that people can come to know Jesus Christ as their friend and saviour. The church building is situated in the centre of Bridgnorth, on the historic Cartway, an ancient link between the High and Low Towns. There are stunning views over the town and the River Severn from the window of the downstairs meeting room, and whilst on the premises because of the awe-inspiring scenery and because of the depth of church's spirituality God's presence can clearly be felt. Regular worship takes place on a Sunday morning and evening, at 10.45am and 6.30pm, and the wide of variety of speakers and approaches to worship ensures that encounters with God are never dull (not that being in a relationship with God should ever be dull!) The present congregation is made up of people from a wide range of backgrounds, and a mixture of ages; there is a small Junior Church which meets every Sunday morning. Whether you are planning to visit Bridgnorth and or the surrounding area, please do feel free to come and take a look at our church. If you want to join us one Sunday morning or evening you can be sure of a warm welcome. As a church we are involved in a number of Outreach activities (see the Activities & Outreach page) and church members are constantly looking for ways to expand the involvement. This website is designed to give you information not just about the church and it's activities but also about the related groups who use the premises. Please follow the relevant links. There is also news of forthcoming services and events. If you want any further information about our church and its activities, or you would like to hire our premises please contact the church office.
